Canadian Forces Sailing Assoc.
The CFSA Jr Division is a group of young sailors who like to get together and sail. The Jr Division is anchored by our Jr sailing and racing programme. We generally run two seasons that shoulder our Learn to Sail summer program.
Junior sailing is open to any sailor (no affiliation to the CF required) who has completed opti basic or CanSail2 and right up to the age of 19. The reasoning behind the experience level is so the juniors can be a bit more independent from the safety boat on the water compared to when they are in lessons.
Juniors are also quite welcome, even encouraged, to bring friends. Parents are also welcome to be taken out sailing or to join on the safety boat.
We also have the Intermediate Juniors which is open to past juniors aged 19-25 and attending post-secondary education. Intermediates often help the volunteers and the younger juniors. Intermediates are also encouraged to continue dinghy racing or take up keelboat sailing and racing.
Junior sailing is available all year long, and we are trying to build a group of interested, motivated sailors that want to come out and sail. If you or someone you know fits into that description, then please contact the Jr Advisor and we will get them on the water. CFSA is building the programme with partners and interested parents of juniors. Our current practice schedule is Saturdays 11-1400, and we have a Jr Race Team and a Green Fleet of young adventure sailors.
